Who Else Wants To Host a Kids Halloween Costume Party Without Doing All The Work?
A few years ago, I wanted to host a costume party for my children and all of their little friends. However, as a busy mother I was worried about getting all of the details of the party taken care of, so I came up with a fun and easy idea. I invited other moms to help me host the party.
We teamed up and each created our own “station” or activity, taking care of the planning, purchasing of supplies, and then hosting only our station at the party. It worked great! Let me tell you how we set up our unique party.
One mom was in charge of the costume contest, she purchased prizes for a boy and a girl in several different age ranges. She also purchased small treats for each and every kid at the party so that no one felt completely left out. At the party she was in charge of judging, picking, and announcing the winners in each category.
Another mom who had a real knack for taking pictures set up a wonderful fall scene background to take each child’s picture. She brought a digital camera and printer with her to the party so after she took each picture she was able to print out a high quality print for each child. It created a special and unique memory of our costume party.
Knowing about the pictures that were going to be taken at the party, another one of the moms purchased cheap craft photo frames that were unfinished. She then had markers, sticky foam shapes, glitter, glue, etc… available to kids so that they could each make a special photo frame and put their picture into it right away. She wrote the date and the party’s description on the frame for each child.
One of my friends was in charge of snacks and she had the kids each make their own homemade popcorn balls which were fun to make and fun to eat!
I was in charge of face painting at my station and we used kid safe paints to decorate little cheeks with pumpkins, bats, jack o lanterns, and other fun fall shapes.
Overall the party was a huge success! All of the moms had fun being a part of the party, each using her own ideas and talents to make the party a success for everyone involved. We gave the kids a fun trick or treat bag and as they went to each station we all had candy treats to give to each child, by the time that they had visited every mom at the party they not only had a great time, but they had also collected a bag of treats to enjoy later.
