3 Ideas To Make Mornings Run Smoother
Today, I want to share with you my top three ideas that I use at our house to help our mornings run a little smoother, with three children at home, ages six, five, and three… mornings are hectic. I am sure many of you can relate.
Everyone is rushing around trying to get ready, trying to make sure they have everything they will need for the entire day… it is a recipe for stress and tension. Hopefully at least one of these ideas will help you gain a little more sanity and a little more time in your hectic mornings.
♦ Pack Bags the Night Before
This is true for any age children. If you have an infant, pack the diaper bag the night before with the things you will need for the errands you have planned to do the next day.
For a toddler, you can pack a small bag of things that they will need on the go the next day or at daycare. For your school-age child, have them pack backpacks the night before. Sign all papers and permission slips the night before and have them put in library books, gym shoes, musical instruments, and other things that they will need the next day.
This will save you running around in a frantic panic the next morning as you battle the clock and a missing library book. This is also good advice for parents, pack briefcases, bags, and purses the night before so that you too are ready to leave the house in the morning before you go bed each night.
♦ Pack School Lunches the Night Before
If you make your school kids lunches the night before and put it in the fridge to stay fresh all you will have to do the next morning is grab it on your way out the door. This is also a good idea for working mothers who take their lunch to work, put it together the night before and save yourself that chore in the morning
♦ Lay Clothes Out Once a Week
This is the single greatest thing I have done as a mother to save myself headaches! I just started it this year, and I often wonder why this idea did not come to me sooner. I put laundry away once a week at my house, on Sunday afternoons. At that same time I also put together the outfits for the entire week for EVERYONE. I put all the outfits together on separate hangers and each of the kids have a peg where I hang their clothes for the next week.
For my daughter I even clip the hair accessories on the outfit ahead of time so that I do not have to dig for them the next morning. For myself, I also hang the jewelry that I will wear with each outfit to save me that task each morning.
I also iron all the clothes, uniforms, work shirts, and pants that the entire family will need for that week. This practice has saved all of us time in the morning looking for clothes to wear, time that is better spent now getting ready and eating breakfast!
